rCUDA becomes part of the estructure of Ladon OS 7 v11

After several years being part of the ECO-Friendly environment of Ladon OS, rCUDA will finally be integrated into Ladon due to the many advantages rCUDA provides.

Given that rCUDA is a proprietary software, SIE was actually reluctant to include rCUDA into Ladon OS.

Nevertheless, rCUDA will finally be integrated with Ladon, although there will be a Ladon version comprised of 100% free software (rCUDA will not be included in this version). The reason for including rCUDA into Ladon is because our software has only sense in hybrid CPU-GPU clusters with InfiniBand connectivity. This environment is the perfect one for rCUDA.

rCUDA is a development by the team led by Dr. Federico Silla from Universitat Politecnica de Valencia. rCUDA provides Ladon the following features:

GPU virtualization for computing purposes, specially for the V100 GPU model with 32 GB
Migrating old CUDA versions against new GPU servers with CUDA 9.x and 10
Reducing acquisition costs as well as power consumption.
We at SIE expect that including rCUDA into Ladon will allow customers to take advantage of the new powerful NVIDIA Tesla Volva and Geforce Turing GPUs in their systems.
